Job summary

City of Syracuse is seeking a technical professional to monitor a computer-based traffic signal system, code data, evaluate and analyze the signal program, and implement output data. The role supervises staff and responds to traffic signal issues to ensure smooth operations.

Candidates should understand MUTCD, traffic engineering terms, and signal design standards; qualifications include a relevant 4-year degree with experience in computerized applications or equivalent experience in traffic

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level degree in MIS/Transportation/Civil Engineering or equivalent plus 2 years in computerized traffic signal applications
• Equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered

Responsibilities

• Monitor operation of computer-based traffic signal system
• Monitor traffic flow parameters
• Monitor computer generated trouble calls for signal repair
• Receive and respond to traffic signal complaints
• Determine corrective actions and issue work orders
• Supervise subordinate employees
• Maintain records of repairs and maintenance
• Prepare reports on signal calls and pending work
• Develop, code and analyze traffic signal programs
• Alter traffic control plans during major disruptions
