Job summary

City of Frisco is seeking a skilled Traffic Engineering Technician to monitor the traffic control center, maintain signal timing data, and support field crews at the EOC. The role requires technical knowledge of traffic signal systems and collaboration with engineers and technicians.

Ideal candidates will have an Associate degree in engineering or science, IMSA certifications, and a valid Texas driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Monitors and operates the traffic control center located at the EOC within Central Fire Station.
• Interfaces with traffic signal technicians to maintain the traffic signal system including wireless data and video communications from the traffic signal cabinets.
• Provides support during emergency management incidents when the EOC is operational.
• Conducts weekly signal system checks.
• Maintains current signal timing data for traffic signals using ATMS.now.
• Maintains current field inventory database for traffic signal system equipment.
• Updates traffic count database with counts from the traffic control system.
• Assists with organizing daily engineering assignments for Traffic Engineers and Traffic Signal Technicians.
• May lead signal technician staff and provide direction as needed.
• Assists fire department and engineering with tours at the EOC.
• Installs and maintains traffic signal system equipment in various locations and heights.
• Collects field data used to create maps, plans, work orders, and graphics.
• Assists in obtaining and analyzing signal performance data.
• Maintains and retrieves information from engineering databases.
• Responds to inquiries from walk-ins and callers.
