Job summary

Ideal candidates hold ABET-accredited engineering degrees and may be EIT-certified or committed to obtaining it within six months. Travel for field activities is expected as part of project needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, industrial, civil or systems engineering from an ABET accredited program.
• Engineer-in-training (EIT/EI) certification (for civil degree applicants) or commitment to obtain within 6 months.
• 0-5 years of experience in mechanical, electrical, industrial, civil or systems engineering.
• Ability to write in a professional and grammatically correct manner.
• Ability to communicate clearly with clients across the southeastern US.
• Willingness and ability to travel for field work, including overnight trips.
• Curiosity about traffic signals, connected devices, field equipment, and communication networks.

Responsibilities

• Assist with traffic signal design, including CAD and field work
• Assist with traffic signal corridor retiming, including field work, implementation, and fine-tuning
• Assist with design computations and plan preparations
• Assist with other traffic and safety studies, including field work
• Assist in designing projects in accordance with client specifications and guidelines, using design software and drawing tools
• Assist with developing the project quantities for construction cost estimate
• Assist in the preparation of engineering documents for advertisement and construction
