Job summary

Johnson-Mirmiran in Raleigh, NC is seeking an engineer with broad exposure to electrical, civil and systems engineering to support traffic signal design and smart mobility projects. You will assist with CAD, field work, design computations, and cost estimates for transportation systems in the southeastern U.S.

The role requires a ABET-accredited engineering degree, EIT/Civil certification or commitment to obtain, and willingness to travel for field assignments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, industrial, civil or systems engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Engineer-in-training (EIT/EI) certification required for civil engineering degree holders; otherwise commit to obtaining within 6 months.
• 0–5 years of relevant engineering experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication with clients in the southeastern US.
• Willingness to travel for field work, including occasional overnight trips.
• Curiosity about traffic signals, connected devices, field equipment, and communication networks.

Responsibilities

• Assist with traffic signal design, including CAD and field work
• Assist with traffic signal corridor retiming, including field work, implementation, and fine-tuning
• Assist with design computations and plan preparations
• Assist with other traffic and safety studies, including field work
• Assist in designing projects in accordance with client specifications and guidelines, using design software and drawing tools
• Assist with developing the project quantities for construction cost estimate.
• Assist in the preparation of engineering documents for advertisement and construction
