Job summary

Qualifications

• Associate degree or two years in engineering or science with one year of related work experience
• IMSA Signal Technician II Certification or ability to obtain within 12 months of hire
• IMSA Work Zone Safety Certification or TEEX Work Zone Certification within 6 months
• Must pass pre-employment drug screen, background, and MVR check
• Must possess valid State of Texas Driver’s License

Responsibilities

• Monitor and operate the traffic control center at EOC within Central Fire Station
• Interface with signal technicians to maintain signal system including wireless data and video
• Provide support during emergency management incidents when EOC is operational
• Conduct weekly signal system checks
• Maintain signal timing data for traffic signals using ATMS.now
• Maintain field inventory database for traffic signal system equipment
• Update traffic count database with counts from control system
• Assist in organizing daily engineering assignments for Traffic Engineers/Technicians
• May lead signal technician staff and assist with new signal turn-ons and upgrades
• Assist fire department and engineering with EOC tours
• Install and maintain traffic signal equipment at various locations up to 40 feet high
• Collect field data used for maps, plans, work orders, and graphics
• Assist in analyzing signal system performance data
• Maintain and retrieve information from engineering databases
• Respond to walk-in and phone information requests
