Job summary

AWP Safety is seeking a Protector to join our traffic management team in Hampton, VA. You will set up cones, signs, and barricades and guide traffic using a stop/slow paddle, working outdoors in all weather.

No experience or degree is required; we provide training, safety gear, and opportunities for advancement. This is a safety-sensitive role with pre-hire screening, including a drug test, and shifts may include nights or weekends.

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license.
• Able to stand, walk, and work outside for long periods.
• Able to lift 40–50 pounds.
• Willing to work in traffic and changing weather.
• Flexible schedule; arrive on time for every shift.
• Must pass pre-hire screening, including a drug test.

Responsibilities

• Setting up cones, signs, and barricades and taking traffic control equipment down.
• Using a stop/slow paddle to guide traffic and monitor job site activity.
• Following all safety rules taught in training.
• Communicating with your crew and supervisor.
• Helping keep vehicles and equipment clean and safe.
• Working outside year-round, in all weather.
• Shifts may change; some nights, weekends, or emergency work may be required.
