Job summary

Anoka County Transportation Division seeks an Engineering Technician II to support highway construction, traffic engineering, and right‑of‑way permitting. You will review permits, inspect work, and ensure compliance with county standards, using GIS, CAD, and traffic software.

On-site role with standard hours and opportunities for professional development. Requires technical school accreditation and 2+ years of related experience; driver’s background check is required.

Qualifications

• Accreditation from a technical school or trades program is required.
• At least 2 years of related experience is required or an equivalent education/experience mix.
• Successful completion of a driver’s license background check.

Responsibilities

• Review, process, issue, coordinate, and track permits for activities within the county highway system.
• Inspect permitted work and maintain records to ensure compliance with standards.
• Process right-of-way user registrations and verify insurance/regulatory requirements.
• Assist in reviewing plats and development plans adjacent to the highway system.
• Perform data collection, analysis, and reporting for traffic operations and safety.
