Job summary

Anoka County Transportation Division is seeking an Engineering Technician II to support highway construction, traffic engineering, and right-of-way permitting. You will review and issue permits, inspect work, and document compliance with standards.

Field reviews of traffic control plans and data collection for traffic studies are key tasks. Responsibilities include processing registrations, verifying insurance, and assisting with plats and development plans.

Qualifications

• Accreditation from a technical school or trades program and at least 2 years of job-related experience.
• Equivalent mix of education and experience may be substituted year-for-year.

Responsibilities

• Review, process, issue, coordinate, and track permits for highway projects and right-of-way activities.
• Inspect permitted work and maintain records to ensure compliance with standards.
• Conduct field reviews of traffic control plans and inspect restoration work.
• Process registrations and verify insurance before permits are approved.
• Assist in reviewing plats and development plans adjacent to highways.
• Collect and analyze data to support traffic operations and safety studies.
• Use GIS/CAD to develop maps and exhibits and support project development.
