Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Senior Traffic Operations Engineer for a client facility in Detroit, MI. You will lead a team of traffic engineers and operators, coordinating with on-site management to deliver real-time traffic operations services in a demanding environment.

The role requires a PE license (MI preferred or obtainable within 6 months), a Michigan driver's license, and the ability to work a 10:30am–6:30pm shift with some field work. On-site onboarding is required.

Qualifications

• BA/BS + 6 years of experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in Michigan, or ability to obtain one in 6 months
• Michigan Driver’s License in good standing and motor vehicle records check
• Must be able to operate a computer and view CCTV/video monitoring equipment
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical documentation and stakeholder presentations

Responsibilities

• Lead and support on-site Traffic Operations Engineers to deliver real-time traffic operations services
• Coordinate with On-site Operations Manager and Project Management teams
• Review and develop actuated/coordinated signal timing plans and timing databases
• Lead before-after studies to evaluate in-field traffic conditions using data sources and software
• Manage traffic signal network from the operations center and adapt timing in real time
