Job summary

Insight Global is seeking a Traffic Signal Electrician in Detroit, MI to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair traffic signals and control systems across county and state roadways. This role requires working outdoors, at heights, and in confined spaces to keep traffic infrastructure safe and reliable.

The position demands Michigan Master/ Journeyman license, 4+ years as an Electrician, CDL with aerial lift credentials, and the ability to handle overtime and on-call repairs.

Qualifications

• Michigan Master Electrician or Journeyman license required.
• 4+ years of experience as an Electrician.
• Experience with traffic signals and related infrastructure.
• Comfortable working outdoors, at heights, on ladders, and around signal structures.
• Willing to enter pump houses and underground confined spaces.
• Strong troubleshooting and repair skills and preventive maintenance.

• Install, modify, repair, program and perform routine maintenance on electrical systems and traffic signals.
• Test and troubleshoot electrical systems and components.
• Work from ladders, scaffolds, lifts to access and repair equipment.
• Drive CDL equipment and maintain CDL A and N credentials and aerial lift certs (training provided).
• Measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble poles and install conduits and electrical distribution equipment.
• Install controls and distribution devices like switches, relays, circuits and breaker panels.

Job description

Insight Global is seeking a Traffic Signal Electrician in Detroit, MI. This individual will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of traffic signals and traffic signal control systems across county and state roadways. We are looking for someone with strong electrical troubleshooting skills who is comfortable working outdoors, at heights, and in confined spaces. This person will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and reliable operation of traffic infrastructure throughout the region while supporting the installation and maintenance of signal systems that keep communities moving safely and efficiently.

Main Responsibilities

• Install, modify, repair, program and provide routine maintenance on electrical systems, fixtures, traffic signals, HVAC electrical, electrical motors and control equipment for Bridge and structures (Department specific).
• Test and troubleshoot electrical systems.
• Work from ladders, scaffolds, lift trucks to maintain and repair electrical systems.
• Drive CDL equipment, maintain CDL with A and N credentials and aerial lift certifications (on-the-job training provided)
• Measure, cuts, bends, threads, assembles poles and installs electrical conduits.
• Install controls and distribution apparatuses such as switches, relays, circuits, and breaker panels.

Must Haves

• Michigan Master Electrician or Journeyman Electrician License
• 4+ years of experience as an Electrician
• Open to working on traffic signals and related infrastructure
• Comfortable working outdoors, at heights, on ladders, and around traffic signal structures
• Willing to enter pump houses and underground confined spaces
• Strong troubleshooting and repair skills (Diagnose electrical/system issues, perform repairs, and preventative maintenance)
• Experience installing, maintaining, and operating electrical equipment such as wiring, control systems, signal equipment, and related infrastructure
• Ability to read systems, evaluate performance, and identify improvements
• Experience with equipment maintenance, inspections, testing, and quality checks
• Ability to work significant overtime and on-call for emergency repairs

Plusses

• Traffic signal or roadway electrical experience
• Experience with pump stations, utility infrastructure, or municipal electrical

Shift: 7:00am-3:30pm

Salary: $80,000-$83,395 depending on experience

*Opportunity to earn up to 2x base salary through overtime opportunities*
