Job summary

Colliers Engineering & Design seeks an experienced Traffic Engineer to join our team in MI (Lansing, Southfield, or Grand Rapids). The role involves planning, design, and operation of transportation systems, data analysis, signal timing plans, and coordination with multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, sustainable mobility projects.

The ideal candidate has a civil engineering degree, 5+ years of traffic design, and a PE license (PTOE a plus).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering required.
• 5+ years of traffic design experience highly preferred.
• PE license required; PTOE is a plus.
• Prior experience with MDOT preferred.
• Proficient in MicroStation and AutoCAD with a working knowledge of Synchro, VISSIM, Open Roads, HSM and HCS.
• Previous experience mentoring junior level staff is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Apply engineering fundamentals for technical support of project design teams.
• Develop drawings by modifying or replicating prior projects.
• Create drawings from sketches.
• Ensure designs are in accordance with company and client production and design standards.
• Perform engineering calculations and create estimates.
• Research and apply code provisions to design.
• Perform QA/QC by verifying design methodology, calculations, outcomes, etc.
• Prepare or review scopes of work and budgets, and schedule assignments.
• Prepare proposals to provide professional services.
