Job summary

Gulfshoresal seeks a Traffic Operations Engineer to lead the City’s Advanced Traffic Management System, overseeing signal operations, design reviews, and data-driven improvements. The role supervises staff, administers projects and grants, and ensures safe, efficient city traffic.

Qualification emphasis on a BS in Engineering, TX PE or eligibility within six months, and five years of municipal traffic experience; strong proficiency with Synchro and traffic software; valid TX driver’s license;

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering from a university with ABET-accredited program.
• Professional Engineer registration in Texas required or must attain within six months.
• Professional Traffic Operations Engineer certification preferred.
• Texas Driver’s License Class C required.

Responsibilities

• Manage traffic signal system operations and monitoring; oversee performance and improvements.
• Review designs to ensure accuracy and city-standard compliance.
• Provide signal operation and design services, including configuring and troubleshooting devices.
• Maintain central traffic signal management software and ensure reliable operation.
• Lead and supervise staff and manage projects and grants.
• Respond to inquiries from citizens, vendors, and staff with timely, professional assistance.
