Job summary

The State of Illinois, through the Illinois Department of Transportation, seeks a Technical Manager IV to oversee statewide purchasing contracts for traffic-related equipment and commodities, including development and maintenance of specifications.

You will coordinate district purchases and vendor deliveries, evaluate new traffic control devices and materials, and ensure procurement aligns with program goals and budget.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business, communications, or science with two years of relevant experience, or eight years of experience.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel statewide occasionally.
• Experience in specification writing, state procurement, and commodity and equipment purchasing.
• Working knowledge of traffic control device design and installations.

Responsibilities

• Manage state purchasing contracts for traffic equipment and commodities.
• Develop and maintain specifications; coordinate district purchases and vendor deliveries.
• Evaluate new traffic control devices and materials.
• Liaise between central office, districts, and vendors; recommend resource use.
