Job summary

State of Illinois seeks a Traffic Equipment and Commodities Manager to oversee statewide procurement of traffic-related equipment and commodities. You will develop specifications, coordinate district purchases, and liaise with vendors to optimize procurement practices.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree with procurement experience or extensive related work history, plus strong communication and relationship-building skills. Hybrid in-office work is available in Springfield, IL.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, communications, or science plus two years of experience in business management, communications or procurement; OR eight years of experience in business management, communications, or procurement.

Responsibilities

• Develops new specifications and updates existing specifications to reflect current policies and practices.
• Collects statewide needs for major items of traffic equipment and commodities for purchase processing.
• Evaluates bid responses for acceptability and compliance with specifications; recommends awards or rejections.
• Supervises or assists in testing, evaluating, and reporting on new traffic control devices, materials, equipment, and methods.
• Coordinates vendor deliveries of high-volume traffic commodity items among districts.
