Job summary

WSP is seeking a Technical Director, Traffic Engineering in New York. The role oversees project delivery, staff development, and technical leadership for local, state, and regional clients. Travel to NY offices may be required.

The candidate will lead and grow the Traffic Engineering, Safety, and ITS practice, manage client relationships, and contribute to proposals and budgets while ensuring safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Traffic Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Technology, preferred, or equivalent years of experience.
• 12+ years of progressive experience in traffic, ITS, & safety planning, analysis, and design.
• Licensed Professional Engineer in NY or reciprocity with NY within 6 months; PTOE certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support the delivery and execution of project scope, objectives, and requirements with clients and stakeholders.
• Lead multi-disciplinary project teams and mentor staff to deliver high-quality outcomes.
• Develop proposals, scopes of work, and budgeting for projected work.
• Grow and oversee WSP’s Traffic Engineering, Safety, and ITS practice across New York State.
