WSP USA in New York seeks an experienced Technical Director, Traffic Engineering to lead a team of traffic engineers and transportation planners, delivering complex projects for local, state, and regional clients. The role emphasizes leadership, technical excellence, and client satisfaction.

Based in one of New York offices (Valhalla, NYC, Buffalo, or Troy), this position involves mentoring staff, growing the practice, and guiding proposals, scopes of work, and budgets while ensuring safety and

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Traffic Engineering, Computer Science, or IT, preferred, or equivalent years of experience.
• 12+ years of progressive experience in traffic, ITS, & safety planning, analysis, and design.
• Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of New York, or able to obtain reciprocity within 6 months.
• Proven experience managing complex projects with budgets, schedules, and technical requirements.
• Proven experience with NYSDOT, MTA, and other regional agencies.
• Experience developing proposals and managing client relationships.

Responsibilities

• Lead multi-disciplinary project teams and mentor staff.
• Oversee project delivery, budgets, and scheduling to meet client requirements.
• Develop technical proposals, scopes of work, and budgets.
• Coordinate with government agencies and stakeholders.
• Present complex technical information to executives and clients.
