Job summary

WSP seeks a Technical Director, Traffic Engineering in New York to lead a team of engineers and transportation planners. The role oversees project delivery for local, state, and regional clients with a strong focus on client satisfaction, technical excellence, and growth of the NY practice.

The ideal candidate has 12+ years in traffic engineering, a NY PE license (reciprocity possible), and PTOE (preferred). Travel to NY offices (Valhalla, NYC, Buffalo, Troy) may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Traffic Engineering or related field; equivalent experience.
• 12+ years in traffic, ITS, and safety planning, analysis, and design.
• Licensed Professional Engineer in NY or reciprocity with NY within 6 months of hire.
• Strong leadership, mentoring, and team-building skills.
• Excellent written, verbal, and public speaking abilities.
• Experience with proposals, client presentations, and project delivery.

Responsibilities

• Lead multi-disciplinary project teams and staff development.
• Oversee project delivery, budgets, schedules, and client satisfaction.
• Provide technical guidance in engineering and design for local/state/regional clients.
• Develop technical proposals, scopes of work, and budgets.
• Grow the firm’s Traffic Engineering, Safety, and ITS practice in NY.
• Mentor staff and uphold safety and company policies.
