State Highway Administration's (SHA) Office of Traffic and Safety (OOTS) is currently recruitingfor a Traffic Engineer (Transportation Engineer III) in Anne Arundel County. This position is open to anyone who meets the minimum and selective qualifications listed below. This is a position specific recruitment. Nature of Work: This position serves as an intermediate-level Transportation Engineer on the Traffic Engineering Research and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Team within the Traffic Development and Support Division. The responsibilities include, but are not limited to: serving as the project engineer for research projects conducted by the Office of Traffic and Safety (OOTS); technical expert for the interpretation of the Maryland Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MdMUTCD) and developing and distributing OOTS policies, procedures, and guidelines; assisting with customer service by preparing response letters to citizens on behalf of the Governor, Secretary, and Administrator; assistant coordinator for traffic safety and operational issues across multiple SHA offices; and representative of OOTS or SHA as an expert at meetings with the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), Transportation Research Board (TRB), Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) and other reginal organizations.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Possession of a bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited college or university.
Experience: Two (2) years of experience in professional engineering.
Selective Qualification: One (1) year of the required experience must have involved transportation research and/or traffic analysis of highway planning and design projects.
