HDR, Inc. seeks a Traffic Engineer in Anchorage, Alaska, to join our Transportation Business Group.

You’ll contribute to designing safe, efficient mobility systems—from highways to transit—and guide project teams through traffic analyses, signal design, and safety evaluations. You will work with engineers, planners, and consultants to deliver PS&E plans, traffic studies, and timing plans, mentoring entry-level designers while supporting client relationships.

Qualifications

• Experience with traffic analysis and traffic engineering/design.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• CAD experience with MicroStation, AutoCAD and Guide Sign software.
• Experience with safety analysis using safety software tools.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
• Active participation in an employee-owned culture is a must.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support on traffic design and analysis projects under the supervision of a Project Manager.
• Prepare PS&E plans including traffic signal design, lighting, sidewalk and curb ramp design, and traffic control plans.
• Develop traffic studies including impact analyses and timing plans using modeling tools.
• Collaborate with project teams and interact with clients as needed; mentor junior staff.
• Conduct safety analyses using a variety of safety software and tools.
