Job summary

The Municipality of Anchorage, through the Traffic Engineering Department, seeks an experienced traffic engineer to review plats, rezoning requests, and site plans, coordinating with planning and building staff.

Minimum qualifications include an engineering license or EIT with multiple years in traffic engineering. Remote work may be considered after probation; background checks and background employment verification are required.

Qualifications

• Engineer In Training (EIT) certification or professional engineering registration with five years of traffic engineering or related experience (one year at Assistant Traffic Engineer I level).
• Bachelor’s degree in Traffic Engineering, Transportation Planning or related fields with four years of traffic engineering experience (one year at Assistant Traffic Engineer I level).
• Master’s degree in Traffic Engineering, Transportation Planning or related fields with two years of traffic engineering experience (one year at Assistant Traffic Engineer I level).

Responsibilities

• Review and comment on plats, rezonings, CUPs, ordinances and site plans.
• Coordinate projects with internal staff and outside agencies.
• Represent Traffic Engineering at boards and hearings.
• Respond to public inquiries and resolve conflicts in codes and design requirements.
• Ensure compliance with municipal design standards and policies.

Education
