Job summary

HDR New England Transportation Group in Boston is seeking a Traffic Engineer to work on transportation and safety design projects across New England. You will perform traffic analysis, design, and safety studies, coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams, and contribute to high-profile infrastructure programs that improve mobility and safety.

The role requires a PE license, CAD proficiency (MicroStation/AutoCAD/Guide Sign), and experience with simulation tools (HCS, Synchro, VISSIM, Aimsun).

Qualifications

• Experience with traffic analysis and traffic engineering/design.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the location of the position (or equivalent).
• CAD experience with MicroStation, AutoCAD, and Guide Sign software.
• Experience with HCS, Synchro, VISSIM, and Aimsun.

Responsibilities

• Perform traffic engineering analysis and design including traffic modeling and safety analyses.
• Assist with traffic signal design, signing/striping plans, maintenance of traffic plans and PS&E packages, and coordinate with roadway design teams.
• Perform crash analysis and safety studies as part of transportation assessments.
• Conduct operational traffic analysis using various modeling tools and apply results to sound engineering practice.
• Write traffic impact and transportation assessment reports and present findings to the team.
• Perform quality control reviews of design work and coordinate as traffic engineering task leader with other disciplines.
