Job summary

HDR's Phoenix team seeks a Traffic Engineer to lead transportation planning and traffic engineering analyses for state/local agencies and private developers. The role includes project management, design, and coordination across disciplines to deliver on schedule and within budget.

The position covers traffic safety analysis, signal timing, photometric/lighting design, ITS, and macroscopic modeling, with responsibilities to mentor junior staff and ensure quality management.

Qualifications

• Master's degree required with 3+ years in traffic engineering or
• Bachelor's degree with 5+ years in traffic engineering.
• Experience includes traffic safety, signal analysis/design, photometrics, ITS, and modeling.

Responsibilities

• Serve as project manager or technical leader for transportation projects.
• Develop traffic studies including impact analyses, corridor and access studies.
• Prepare plans, specs, and estimates for signing, signals, lighting, and ITS.
• Prepare or review scopes, budgets, and schedules; write reports and memos.
• Coordinate with subconsultants and clients to keep projects on schedule and budget.
• Mentor junior engineers and implement project quality management.
