Job summary

HDR is seeking a Traffic EIT to join our transportation team in Nashville to support traffic forecasting, design, and analysis for highway projects. You will collaborate with engineers and designers to deliver safe, efficient networks while developing CAD-driven traffic solutions.

The role emphasizes hands-on design using MicroStation, Autocad, and Guide Sign, with exposure to HCS, Synchro, VISSIM, and Aimsun, and potential career progression toward PE or Traffic Engineer titles.

Qualifications

• Conduct traffic design using CAD platforms including MicroStation, Autocad and Guide Sign software
• Conduct operational analysis using a variety of analysis and modeling tools specific to support job duties, including HCS, Synchro, VISSIM, and Aimsun
• Conduct safety analysis using a variety of safety software tools including Highway Safety Software
• Ability to multitask while working on many projects at once

Responsibilities

• Work as part of a traffic team under the direction of the Project Engineer/Manager on a variety of traffic forecasting, analysis and design needs for a variety of transportation projects
• Conduct operational traffic analysis using a variety of modeling tools, ranging from highway capacity software to complex micro simulation models; analyze everything from isolated intersections and roundabouts to urban arterials and freeway segments
• Focus on traffic design, including accident analysis and mitigation strategies, signing, striping, traffic signals, lighting, and Intelligent Traffic Systems (ITS), including real-time traffic information, adaptive signal control, closed circuit television (CCTV), and variable message signs (VMS)
• Perform other duties as needed
