Job summary

HDR, Inc. is seeking a Traffic EIT in Nashville to join a traffic team under the Project Engineer/Manager, supporting forecasting, analysis and design for transportation projects.

The role requires an EIT, a Bachelor's degree, CAD and modeling tool proficiency, strong communication and multitasking, and a commitment to HDR's employee-owned culture.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and EIT certification required.
  • Proficiency with CAD platforms MicroStation and AutoCAD for traffic design.
  • Experience with traffic modeling tools (HCS, Synchro, VISSIM, Aimsun) and safety software.

Responsibilities

  • Perform traffic forecasting, analysis and design for transportation projects.
  • Conduct operational analysis using modeling tools from highways to urban corridors.
  • Assist with ITS design including signals, CCTV and dynamic signage.

In the role of Traffic EIT, we'll count on you to:
  • Work as part of a traffic team under the direction of the Project Engineer/Manager on a variety of traffic forecasting, analysis and design needs for a variety of transportation projects
  • Conduct operational traffic analysis using a variety of modeling tools, ranging from highway capacity software to complex micro simulation models; analyze everything from isolated intersections and roundabouts to urban arterials and freeway segments
  • Focus on traffic design, including accident analysis and mitigation strategies, signing, striping, traffic signals, lighting, and Intelligent Traffic Systems (ITS), including real-time traffic information, adaptive signal control, closed circuit television (CCTV), and variable message signs (VMS)
  • Perform other duties as needed
Preferred Qualifications
  • PE License preferred. Candidates hired with their PE will be titled "Traffic Engineer," and candidates hired with their EIT will be titled "Traffic EIT."
  • BSCE Certification
  • Local candidates preferred
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate
  • Conduct traffic design using CAD platforms including MicroStation, Autocad and Guide Sign software
  • Conduct operational analysis using a variety of analysis and modeling tools specific to support job duties, including HCS, Synchro, VISSIM, and Aimsun
  • Conduct safety analysis using a variety of safety software tools including Highway Safety Software
  • Strong verbal and written skills
  • Ability to multitask while working on many projects at once
