Job summary

DRMP seeks a Traffic Design Project Manager in Raleigh, NC to oversee traffic signal design, traffic control design, signing and pavement markings on diverse public and private projects. The role emphasizes coordination with CAD technicians and field staff to deliver accurate designs.

You will manage budgets, schedules, and performance metrics, prepare fee proposals, and mentor Associates and Interns while advancing your professional engineering licensure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required.
• Professional Engineer licensure (PE) in the state of practice.
• 5–10 years of progressively responsible experience with public/private sector projects (NCDOT preferred).
• Experience in traffic signal design, traffic control design, signing and pavement marking design, and cost estimating.
• Proficiency with MicroStation and AutoCAD.

Responsibilities

• Performs engineering calculations and analyses to complete projects.
• Collaborates with CAD technicians, field staff, designers, surveyors, and team members.
• Manages multiple projects with public/private funding and ensures QC of designs.
• Prepares project fee proposals and tracks costs, schedules, and performance.
• Coordinates data tabulation/evaluation and reporting; supports design development.
• Conducts field assignments including site inspections and property assessments.
• Maintains field notes and photo documentation.
• Supervises Associates and Interns; mentors staff.

Your Primary Responsibilities will include

• Performs various engineering related calculations and analyses in the application of the basic design criteria necessary to complete assigned projects.
• Collaborates with CAD technicians, field technicians, designers, surveyors, and other team personnel to complete projects efficiently and accurately.
• Manages multiple publicly and privately funded projects and provides technical quality control of projects.
• Prepares project fee proposals and follows up as appropriate.
• Responsible for tracking of costs, schedules, and performance measurements for assigned projects.
• Coordinates the preparation of data tabulation/evaluation and reports and assists in report production and development of engineering designs and specifications.
• Performs field assignments including site inspections and conducting field assessment of properties.
• Maintains field notes and photo documentation as required.
• Supervises work of Associates and Interns.
• Mentors/Coaches Associates and Interns to develop staff.

What you'll need

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• Professional Engineering licensure in the state where this person’s work is primarily performed.
• 5 - 10 years of overall and progressively responsible experience with public and private sector projects, specifically with NCDOT.
• Experience in traffic signal design, traffic control design, signing and pavement marking design, and cost estimating.
• Proficient in MicroStation/AutoCAD
