Job summary

DRMP is seeking a Traffic Design Project Manager, PE to oversee traffic signal design, traffic control design, signing and pavement marking design functions in Charlotte, NC.

The role requires a Civil Engineering degree and PE licensure, with 5–10 years of experience on public/private projects (NCDOT preferred) and proficiency with MicroStation or AutoCAD.

Qualifications

  • Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering and PE licensure.
  • 5–10 years of progressive experience on public/private sector projects, preferably NCDOT.
  • Experience in traffic signal design, traffic control design, signing and pavement marking design, and cost estimating.

Responsibilities

  • Performs engineering calculations and analyses to complete projects.
  • Leads collaboration with CAD/field teams to ensure accurate project delivery.
  • Manages multiple funded projects and provides technical quality control.
  • Prepares project fee proposals and tracks costs, schedules, and performance metrics.
  • Coordinates data tabulation/evaluation and reports; assists in design and specs.
  • Performs site inspections and field assessments of properties.
  • Maintains field notes and photo documentation.
  • Supervises Associates and Interns; mentors staff.

Traffic Design Project Manager, PE

Description

The Traffic Design Project Manager will help oversee traffic signal design, traffic control design, signing and pavement marking design functions.

*This position is eligible for a sign-on-bonus!

Your Primary Responsibilities will include
  • Performs various engineering related calculations and analyses in the application of the basic design criteria necessary to complete assigned projects.
  • Collaborates with CAD technicians, field technicians, designers, surveyors, and other team personnel to complete projects efficiently and accurately.
  • Manages multiple publicly and privately funded projects and provides technical quality control of projects.
  • Prepares project fee proposals and follows up as appropriate.
  • Responsible for tracking of costs, schedules, and performance measurements for assigned projects.
  • Coordinates the preparation of data tabulation/evaluation and reports and assists in report production and development of engineering designs and specifications.
  • Performs field assignments including site inspections and conducting field assessment of properties.
  • Maintains field notes and photo documentation as required.
  • Supervises work of Associates and Interns.
  • Mentors/Coaches Associates and Interns to develop staff.
What you'll need
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
  • Professional Engineering licensure in the state where this person’s work is primarily performed.
  • 5 - 10 years of overall and progressively responsible experience with public and private sector projects, specifically with NCDOT.
  • Experience in traffic signal design, traffic control design, signing and pavement marking design, and cost estimating.
  • Proficient in MicroStation/AutoCAD
