Job summary

DRMP seeks a Traffic Design Project Manager, PE, to oversee traffic signal and signing/pavement marking design, within Raleigh, NC. The role involves coordinating multiple public/private projects, mentoring staff, and preparing fee proposals. A PE license in NC and 5–10 years of relevant experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (or related discipline) required.
• Professional Engineering licensure in the state where work is performed.
• 5–10 years of experience with public/private projects, including work with NCDOT.
• Experience in traffic signal design, traffic control design, signing & pavement marking design, and cost estimating.
• Proficiency in MicroStation and AutoCAD.

Responsibilities

• Perform engineering calculations and analyses to complete projects.
• Collaborate with CAD technicians, field technicians, designers, surveyors, and team members to ensure accuracy.
• Manage multiple funded projects and provide technical quality control.
• Prepare project fee proposals and track costs, schedules, and performance metrics.
• Coordinate data tabulation/evaluation and assist in reports and engineering designs.

Description

The Traffic Design Project Manager will help oversee traffic signal design, traffic control design, signing and pavement marking design functions.

*This position is eligible for a sign-on-bonus!

Your Primary Responsibilities will include

• Performs various engineering related calculations and analyses in the application of the basic design criteria necessary to complete assigned projects.
• Collaborates with CAD technicians, field technicians, designers, surveyors, and other team personnel to complete projects efficiently and accurately.
• Manages multiple publicly and privately funded projects and provides technical quality control of projects.
• Prepares project fee proposals and follows up as appropriate.
• Responsible for tracking of costs, schedules, and performance measurements for assigned projects.
• Coordinates the preparation of data tabulation/evaluation and reports and assists in report production and development of engineering designs and specifications.
• Performs field assignments including site inspections and conducting field assessment of properties.
• Maintains field notes and photo documentation as required.
• Supervises work of Associates and Interns.
• Mentors/Coaches Associates and Interns to develop staff.

What you'll need

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• Professional Engineering licensure in the state where this person’s work is primarily performed.
• 5 - 10 years of overall and progressively responsible experience with public and private sector projects, specifically with NCDOT.
• Experience in traffic signal design, traffic control design, signing and pavement marking design, and cost estimating.
• Proficient in MicroStation/AutoCAD
