Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED, or six months of experience in sub-professional engineering, heavy mobile equipment operation, or mobile equipment maintenance.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Field experience or adaptability to field conditions and training requirements.

Responsibilities

• Conducts traffic data collection and analysis, including turning movement counts, 24-hour volume counts, speed studies, intersection and crash diagrams, and other traffic studies; compiles data and makes recommendations for corrective actions.
• Develops and maintains traffic-related designs and information using CADD, including traffic control plans and traffic signal inventories, while applying DOTD engineering policies, procedures, standards, and specifications.
• Enters and analyzes traffic data in appropriate databases and applications; prepares reports, estimates quantities, takes measurements, performs calculations, and maintains sign inventories as needed.
• Coordinates with internal and external agencies and sections to exchange traffic-related information and support traffic operations.
• Participates in required training and provides technical assistance, including on-the-job training for lower-level technicians, and performs other duties as assigned, including emergency/disaster support.
