Job summary

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) invites qualified applicants for Engineer 7 in District 03 – Traffic Operations. This role leads traffic engineering activities, collaborates with field crews, and ensures compliant traffic control and signing across highways and urban streets.

Applicants must hold a Louisiana PE license with experience requirements; relocation or licensure steps may apply for non-Louisiana licensees.

Qualifications

Current Louisiana Professional Engineer license.
Three years of licensed engineering experience; or seven years of professional engineering experience.
Ability to obtain Louisiana PE license if licensed in another state.
Master's/doctorate degrees substitute for experience as specified.

Responsibilities

Directs all district traffic engineering activities and traffic studies.
Coordinates and directs the district sign shop, striping crew and electricians to ensure timely completion of duties.
Reviews driveway and access permit applications for the district permit specialist.
Reviews plans of construction and/or maintenance projects and approves traffic control plans.
Investigates and analyzes existing traffic control devices at abnormal accident locations.
Oversees district outdoor advertising, junkyard, logo, and TODS sign programs for federal compliance.
