Job summary

RoadSafe Traffic Systems in Suffolk, VA is seeking a Traffic Control Technician II to set up and take down lane closures, ensuring work-site safety on state highways and other roadways.

You will operate trucks and MOT/TMA vehicles, place signs and barriers, monitor the work zone, and coordinate with crews. The role requires 1–3 years of traffic control experience and the ability to travel statewide, including nights and weekends.

Qualifications

• Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record.
• 1–3 years of traffic control experience with 2,000 field hours.
• Ability to pass background check and DOT drug test.
• Must read and follow traffic plans and safety regulations.
• Able to lift and move up to 70 pounds.
• Willing to travel statewide and work nights/weekends.
• ATSSA TCT intermediate training completed.

Responsibilities

• Operate company trucks to transport materials to job sites.
• Drive MOT (Mangement of Traffic) and TMA vehicles to projects.
• Place traffic signs and arrow boards in work areas.
• Set up cones and other traffic safety devices.
• Monitor the work zone throughout shifts for proper placement.
• Load and unload traffic control items at shift start/end.
• Install, remove, and reset delineators, signs, and posts.
• Perform basic equipment maintenance and safety checks.
• Follow safety rules and company policies; be available for on-call rotation.
