Job summary

RoadSafe Traffic Systems is seeking a Traffic Control Technician to set up and take down lane closures and ensure safety on state highways and other roadways. The role includes redirecting traffic for workers or survey crews and assembling, delivering, and picking up safety products from job sites.

The position requires operating trucks, MOT and TMA vehicles, and handling traffic safety devices. Travel statewide with possible overnight stays and rotating on-call shifts.

Qualifications

• Valid U.S. Driver’s License with a good driving record.
• 1–3 years of experience and 2,000 in-field hours in traffic control.
• Able to pass background check incl. motor vehicle records.
• Able to pass drug test and meet federal DOT requirements.
• Wear PPE: safety boots, hard hat, safety glasses, vest.
• Ability to read/write to comply with road signs and paperwork; know regs.
• Read plans and ensure traffic control plans are implemented.

Responsibilities

• Operate company trucks to transport materials and equipment to job sites.
• Drive MOT vehicle to and from projects and on work sites.
• Drive TMA vehicle to protect workers and work zones.
• Place temporary construction signs in work areas.
• Position arrow boards or variable message boards.
• Set up traffic cones and other devices.
• Monitor the work zone during the shift.
• Load/unload traffic control items at shift start/end.
• Install/remove delineators, signs, posts, supports.
• Perform shop maintenance and repairs on equipment.
• Follow safety rules and company policies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
