Job summary

The City of Oxnard is seeking a Public Safety Field Technician to support traffic control, enforcement and accident investigation activities. You will work with sworn officers and utilize traffic signal/barrier equipment to direct vehicle flow and issue citations as required.

Ideal candidates have a High School Diploma or GED, one year of related experience or college coursework, and a valid California Driver’s License. Bilingual Spanish is highly preferred and overtime may be required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1 year of additional college coursework or Oxnard Police Department experience OR 1 year of related experience.
• Valid California Class C Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record.
• Must communicate effectively in English; bilingual in Spanish preferred.
• Overtime eligibility and potential weekend hours may apply.

Responsibilities

• Support the Patrol Division and control traffic.
• Respond to and assist with traffic collision investigations.
• Assist with traffic checkpoints and prepare citations, warnings and collision diagrams.
• Prepare and maintain records, reports, logs, correspondence and documentation.
• Adhere to regulations and work methods related to assigned duties.
