Job summary

City of Oxnard is seeking Traffic Service Assistants to support the Police Department by controlling traffic, assisting with accident investigations, and preparing citations and diagrams. Strong reading of laws and excellent communication are essential; bilingual Spanish is highly preferred.

The role involves 4/10 work schedule with possible overtime and weekend hours as needed, and requires a California driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• One year of related experience or college coursework preferred.
• Must read/interpret applicable laws, rules, and regulations.
• English communication must be strong; Spanish bilingualism preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support the Patrol Division in daily operations.
• Control and direct vehicle traffic at intersections and events.
• Respond to traffic collision calls and assist investigations.
• Assist with checkpoints and prepare citations, warnings, and collision diagrams.
• Prepare and maintain records, reports, logs, and related documentation.
