Qualifications

  • Four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent plus two years of traffic regulation/ studies OR an associate degree in a related field OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • College credits substituted at 30 credits per year of experience; 6 of those credits must be in related fields.
  • Must possess NY driver license; residency requirement and assignments may apply.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct surveys and studies for traffic signals, All-Way Stop controls, left-turn treatments, and LPIs across all five boroughs.
  • Analyze traffic conditions to identify congestion and crash patterns and recommend improvements to signs, signals, APS, lighting, and markings.
  • Study and document traffic operations; prepare field sketches and blueprints as needed.
  • Coordinate with other units and maintain license throughout employment.
