Job summary

The New York City Department of Transportation’s Division of Traffic Operations is seeking a Supervisor of Electrical Installations and Maintenance (Level 1) to oversee electrical street lighting, traffic signals, and capital projects across the city.

The role emphasizes contractor performance, quality assurance, and contract compliance while coordinating with other city agencies to meet the Streets Plan objectives.

Qualifications

• Four years of full-time experience in the installation, repair and/or inspection of electrical equipment.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience to meet four years of requirement.

Responsibilities

• Supervise electrical installations for street lighting, traffic signals, and capital construction projects.
• Ensure contract compliance, verify billing accuracy, and review project plans and specifications.
• Direct and follow up on street lighting orders, enforcement compliance, and related inspections.
• Coordinate with other city agencies, explain technical standards, and inspect materials and equipment.
• Oversee construction activities performed by contractors and monitor progress on repairs and installations.
• Investigate complaints, assess site conditions, and ensure timely resolution of issues.
• Prepare Street Lighting and/or Signals Maintenance contracts.
• Perform additional related duties as assigned.
