Job summary

SA Recycling in Florida is seeking a Laborer to perform hands-on scrap metal yard work including unloading pallets, sorting materials, and assisting with machine operations. You will maintain a clean, safe work area and follow all safety regulations on site.

The role requires physical stamina, ability to lift heavy items, and good teamwork. A high school diploma or GED is preferred, with bilingual English/Spanish as a plus; training provided for PPE and equipment use.

Qualifications

• Must pass a medical physical and drug test.
• Must pass a background check.
• Preferred - high school diploma or GED and/or foreign education acceptable.
• Bi-lingual (English & Spanish) language skills a plus.
• Ability to communicate effectively; understand direction (written or oral) and use basic math skills as the job demands.
• Willingness to learn how to sort metal, identify colors, shapes, and weights; properly maintain equipment; properly utilize PPE.

Responsibilities

• Unload pallets, boxes, and bundles.
• Material handling / sorting - pushing, pulling, picking, lifting, carrying, and filling up hoppers, boxes, and conveyor belts.
• Unpacking boxes using box cutters and separating plastics, zip ties, blister packs, and other packaging materials.
• Disassembling small equipment and removing bolts and parts.
• Work with recycling equipment for processing metal products (shears, band saw, wire strippers).
• Direct traffic of yard vehicles traveling through yard.
• Light facility maintenance and housekeeping tasks.
• Organize materials to maximize space and maintain cleanliness.
• Comply with safety, health, and environmental rules and procedures.
