Job summary

D.A. Collins Companies is seeking a Maintenance & Protection of Traffic (MPT) Foreperson for our Wilton, NY campus.

You will lead MPT crews on highway and bridge projects, implement work zone plans per NYSDOT standards, and coordinate with multiple teams to maintain safe traffic flow. Ideal candidates bring 5+ years in traffic control or heavy highway construction, strong leadership and communication skills, and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of traffic control or heavy highway construction experience.
• Experience leading traffic control, highway maintenance, or roadway construction crews.
• Thorough understanding of NYSDOT and MUTCD standards, lane closures, and work zone safety.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily safety meetings and ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety policies.
• Lead MPT crews on heavy highway and bridge construction projects.
• Implement and maintain work zone traffic control plans per NYSDOT standards.
• Install, maintain, inspect, and remove temporary traffic control devices.
• Coordinate lane closures, detours, traffic shifts, and work zone changes.
• Conduct daily inspections to ensure device compliance during shifts.
• Coordinate with Superintendents, Project Managers, and crews as needed.
• Maintain traffic safety while minimizing public disruption.
• Manage crew productivity, equipment, and traffic control inventory.
• Complete daily reports and documentation of traffic control activities.
