Job summary

D.A. Collins Companies is seeking a Maintenance & Protection of Traffic (MPT) Foreperson for the Wilton campus to lead crews on heavy highway and bridge projects. You will drive safety program adherence and traffic control plans in line with NYSDOT standards.

Ideal candidates bring 5+ years of traffic control or heavy highway experience, strong leadership, and the ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholders while maintaining public safety and project pace.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of traffic control or heavy highway construction experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily safety meetings and ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety policies.
• Lead MPT crews on heavy highway and bridge construction projects.
• Implement and maintain work zone traffic control plans in accordance with NYSDOT and other applicable standards.
• Install, maintain, inspect, and remove temporary traffic control devices, including signs, cones, drums, barricades, temporary barrier, arrow boards, and message boards.
• Coordinate lane closures, detours, traffic shifts, and work zone changes.
• Conduct daily inspections to ensure traffic control devices remain compliant throughout each shift.
• Coordinate with Superintendents, Project Managers, paving crews, bridge crews, subcontractors, and law enforcement when necessary.
• Maintain traffic safely while minimizing disruption to the traveling public.
• Manage crew productivity, equipment, and traffic control inventory.
• Complete daily reports and documentation related to traffic control activities.
