Job summary

AWP Safety is seeking a Protector to join a field team across job sites. No experience or degree is required as training is provided. Safety comes first, and you will work outdoors year-round, with shifts that may include nights, weekends or emergencies.

You will learn traffic control, use stop/slow paddles, and coordinate with your crew to ensure a safe work site. The role emphasizes staying alert around moving traffic, following safety rules, and showing respect to coworkers and the public.

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license is required.
• Ability to stand, walk, and work outside for long periods.
• Able to lift 40–50 pounds.
• Willing to work in traffic and changing weather conditions.
• Flexible schedule; punctual for every shift.
• Must pass pre-hire screening, including a drug test (safety sensitive).
• Stay alert around moving traffic and follow safety rules at all times.
• Treat coworkers, clients, and the public with respect.

Responsibilities

• Set up cones, signs, and barricades and remove traffic control equipment.
• Use a stop/slow paddle to guide traffic and monitor job site activity.
• Follow all safety rules taught in training.
• Communicate with crew and supervisor.
• Help keep vehicles and equipment clean and safe.
• Work outside all year, in all weather conditions.
• Shift changes may be required including nights, weekends or emergencies.
• Stand or walk 8 to 12 hours per shift.
• Wear provided safety gear and bring steel-toe boots.
