Job summary

Canam Steel Corporation, located in Washington, Missouri, is seeking an organized Shipping/Traffic Clerk to support administrative functions in traffic. The role handles invoicing and dispatch tasks, creates Bills of Lading, and ensures loads are tracked in the ERP system while coordinating with multiple departments and drivers.

Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma, MS Word/Excel skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform day-to-day dispatch functions for shipping office.
• Take photos, document and quality-check finish goods outbound.
• Back-up inbound receiving functions and assist with outbound scheduling.
• Ensure drivers meet required safety PPE for yard and sites.

Job description

Provides administrative support for the functional areas in traffic. Answers phones and directs callers accordingly. Functions as a direct point of contact for customers, drivers, contract carriers, and division employees in various departments.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Schedules both inbound and outbound shipments and communicates with affected departments and PM as needed.
• Creates Bill of Lading for outbound loads .
• Enters carrier rates in system for outbound loads.
• Confirms loads have left the site in the ERP system .
• Performs day to day dispatch functions for shipping office .
• Take photos, document and complete quality checks of all finish good outbounds .
• Back-up to receiving functions of inbound materials.
• Assists with the scheduling of outbound shipments and communicates with affected departments and Project Management .
• Ensure all drivers meet the required safety PPE for both our Yard and customer work sites.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
• R egular and reliable attendance .

REQUIREMENTS:

• High s chool d iploma or equivalent.
• PC skills including MS Word and MS Excel .
• Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and precision in all tasks.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously

Preferred Experience:

• 2 years o f rele vent experie nce .
• Experience with RateLinx TMS platform .
• Microsoft Dynamics ERP system .

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Frequent communication with others to exchange information.
• Frequent repetition of motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
• Frequent moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
• Routinely required to balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.

• Constantly remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.
• Constant use of computer for prolonged periods.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• General office environment and constant exposure to computer display .
• Daily interaction with yard loaders, truck drivers and production managers/supervisors.
• Up to 20% of the day outside documenting loads.
• May require occasional exposure to production areas with airborne particles, loud noises, and extreme heat and cold. Personal protection equipment is required when entering a manufacturing plant.
