Job summary

Garver is seeking a Traffic Analysis Engineer to join our St. Louis, MO office. The role focuses on analyzing traffic patterns, safety studies, and developing signal timing plans while coordinating with cross-disciplinary teams and clients.

The candidate should have a PE license or be able to obtain it within six months, with strong communication skills and experience in project management for DOT and municipal projects.

Qualifications

  • ABET-accredited engineering program completed.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • License as a Professional Engineer (PE) or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
  • Experience with traffic capacity analysis, traffic projections, and safety analysis (including HSM).

Responsibilities

  • Perform traffic and safety studies.
  • Perform traffic simulation and level-of-service analysis.
  • Develop access management plans and lane configurations for new or modified alignments.
  • Develop traffic signal timing plans.
  • Prepare summary documentation and reports.
  • Coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams and communicate concepts to clients.
  • Assist with project management to identify scopes, fees, and monitor progress.
  • Maintain client focus by tracking budgets and schedules.
  • Prepare proposals and support pursuits.
  • Build relationships with existing clients within the service area.
  • Mentor less experienced staff.

Traffic Analysis Engineer – St. Louis, Missouri

Garver is seeking a highly‑motivated Traffic Analysis Engineer to join our St. Louis, MO office. The role involves analyzing and designing projects for DOT and municipal clients across our client footprint.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform traffic and safety studies
  • Perform traffic simulation and level‑of‑service analysis
  • Develop access management plans and lane configurations for new or modified alignments
  • Develop traffic signal timing plans
  • Prepare summary documentation and reports
  • Coordinate with multi‑disciplinary teams and communicate concepts to clients
Additional Duties
  • Assist with project management to identify project scopes, fees, and monitor project progress
  • Maintain a client‑focused, service attitude by tracking budgets and keeping projects on schedule
  • Prepare project proposals and give interviews for project pursuits
  • Perform direct client marketing and develop relationships with existing clients within our service area
  • Mentor less experienced staff
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from an ABET accredited engineering program
  • 4–8 years of experience with traffic‑specific projects
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Licensed as a Professional Engineer (PE) or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
  • Working knowledge of the Highway Capacity Manual & Trip Generation Manual
  • Working knowledge of capacity analysis, traffic projections, and safety analysis (including HSM)
  • Working knowledge of traffic simulation programs (VISSIM, CORSIM, etc.), Synchro, and HCS
  • Experience in analyzing intersections, interchanges, and roundabouts
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in civil engineering
  • Experience in transportation planning and travel demand modeling (TransCAD)
  • Experience using ArcGIS for data analysis, including review of large crash data sets to spatially map and analyze trends and clusters
  • Experience with pedestrian and bicycle improvement projects and studies
  • Experience in marketing and managing local government projects
  • Experience working with MODOT and municipalities in Missouri
  • Certification as a PTOE and/or RSP
