Traffic Analysis Engineer – St. Louis, Missouri
Garver is seeking a highly‑motivated Traffic Analysis Engineer to join our St. Louis, MO office. The role involves analyzing and designing projects for DOT and municipal clients across our client footprint.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform traffic and safety studies
- Perform traffic simulation and level‑of‑service analysis
- Develop access management plans and lane configurations for new or modified alignments
- Develop traffic signal timing plans
- Prepare summary documentation and reports
- Coordinate with multi‑disciplinary teams and communicate concepts to clients
Additional Duties
- Assist with project management to identify project scopes, fees, and monitor project progress
- Maintain a client‑focused, service attitude by tracking budgets and keeping projects on schedule
- Prepare project proposals and give interviews for project pursuits
- Perform direct client marketing and develop relationships with existing clients within our service area
- Mentor less experienced staff
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an ABET accredited engineering program
- 4–8 years of experience with traffic‑specific projects
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Licensed as a Professional Engineer (PE) or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
- Working knowledge of the Highway Capacity Manual & Trip Generation Manual
- Working knowledge of capacity analysis, traffic projections, and safety analysis (including HSM)
- Working knowledge of traffic simulation programs (VISSIM, CORSIM, etc.), Synchro, and HCS
- Experience in analyzing intersections, interchanges, and roundabouts
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in civil engineering
- Experience in transportation planning and travel demand modeling (TransCAD)
- Experience using ArcGIS for data analysis, including review of large crash data sets to spatially map and analyze trends and clusters
- Experience with pedestrian and bicycle improvement projects and studies
- Experience in marketing and managing local government projects
- Experience working with MODOT and municipalities in Missouri
- Certification as a PTOE and/or RSP
