Job summary

Garver's St. Louis, MO office is seeking a Traffic Analysis Engineer to join our transportation planning team.

The role focuses on traffic studies, simulation, and signal timing for DOT and municipal projects, with strong emphasis on collaboration and client communication. The ideal candidate holds a PE (or able to obtain within 6 months) and has 4–8 years of traffic project experience, including familiarity with HCM, Trip Generation, VISSIM/CORSIM, Synchro, and HCS.

Qualifications

  • ABET-accredited engineering degree is required.
  • 4–8 years of experience with traffic-specific projects.
  • Professional communication skills (oral and written).
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
  • Working knowledge of Highway Capacity Manual (HCM) & Trip Generation Manual.
  • Experience with traffic analysis, signals, and safety analyses (HSM).
  • Proficiency with traffic simulation programs (VISSIM, CORSIM, etc.), Synchro, and HCS.

Responsibilities

  • Perform traffic and safety studies for projects.
  • Conduct traffic simulation and Level of Service analyses.
  • Develop access management plans and lane configurations.
  • Develop traffic signal timing plans.
  • Prepare summary documentation and reports.

Traffic Analysis Engineer
St. Louis, Missouri

Garver is seeking a highly-motivated Traffic Analysis Engineer in our St. Louis, MO office to add to our growing traffic and transportation planning team. The ideal candidate would have 5-10 years of related experience, a sharp technical background, and strong passion for the profession. The position will offer the candidate an opportunity to play a key role in analyzing and designing exciting projects for our DOT and municipal clients across our client footprint. Applicants must have excellent communication skills with a commitment to becoming a key member of this highly productive design team. This position will be supervised by a Senior Project Manager and offers outstanding growth opportunity and career advancement to the right individual.

Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Performing traffic and safety studies
  • Performing traffic simulation and level of service analysis
  • Developing access management plans and lane configurations for new or modified alignments
  • Developing traffic signal timing plans
  • Preparing summary documentation and reports
  • Coordinating with multi-disciplinary teams and communicating concepts to clients
Additional Duties

Additional duties include:

  • Assisting with project management to identify project scopes, fees, and monitoring project progress.
  • Maintaining a client-focused, service attitude by tracking budgets, and keeping projects on schedule.
  • Preparing project proposals and giving interviews for project pursuits
  • Performing direct client marketing and developing relationships with existing clients within our service area
  • Mentoring less experienced staff
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree for an ABET accredited engineering program
  • 4 - 8 years of experience with traffic specific projects
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be licensed as a Professional Engineer (PE) or have ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
  • Working knowledge of the Highway Capacity Manual & Trip Generation Manual is required
  • Working knowledge in capacity analysis, traffic projections, and safety analysis (including HSM) is required
  • Working knowledge of traffic simulation programs (VISSIM, CORSIM, etc.), Synchro, and HCS is required
  • Experience in analyzing intersections, interchanges, and roundabouts
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in civil engineering
  • Experience in Transportation planning and travel demand modeling (TransCAD)
  • Experience using ArcGIS for data analysis including review of large sets of crash data to spatial map and analyze for trends and clusters.
  • Experience with pedestrian and bicycle improvement projects and studies
  • Experience in marketing and managing local government projects
  • Experience working with MODOT and municipalities in Missouri
  • Certification as a PTOE and/or RSP
