Qualifications

• Experience with traffic simulation programs (VISSIM, CORSIM, etc.), Synchro, and HCS.
• Experience analyzing intersections, interchanges, and roundabouts.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Traffic Analysis Engineer – Overland Park, Kansas

Garver is seeking a highly‑motivated Traffic Analysis Engineer in our Overland Park, KS office to join our growing traffic and transportation planning team. The ideal candidate would have 5‑10 years of related experience, a sharp technical background, and strong passion for the profession. The position offers an opportunity to play a key role in analyzing and designing exciting projects for DOT and municipal clients across our client footprint.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform traffic and safety studies
• Perform traffic simulation and level of service analysis
• Develop access management plans and lane configurations for new or modified alignments

Additional Duties

• Assist with project management to identify project scopes, fees, and monitor project progress
• Maintain a client‑focused, service attitude by tracking budgets and keeping projects on schedule
• Prepare project proposals and give interviews for project pursuits
• Perform direct client marketing and develop relationships with existing clients within our service area
• Mentor less experienced staff

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an ABET‑accredited engineering program
• 4‑8 years of experience with traffic‑specific projects
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Licensed as a Professional Engineer (PE) or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
• Working knowledge of the Highway Capacity Manual and Trip Generation Manual
• Knowledge of capacity analysis, traffic projections, and safety analysis (including HSM)
• Knowledge of traffic simulation programs (VISSIM, CORSIM, etc.), Synchro, and HCS
• Experience analyzing intersections, interchanges, and roundabouts
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in civil engineering
• Experience in transportation planning and travel demand modeling (TransCAD)
• Experience using ArcGIS for data analysis including reviewing large sets of crash data for spatial mapping and trend analysis
• Experience with pedestrian and bicycle improvement projects and studies
• Experience in marketing and managing local government projects
• Experience working with MODOT and municipalities in Missouri
• Certification as a PTOE and/or RSP
