Job summary

Garver is seeking a Traffic Analysis Engineer in Houston, TX to join our growing transportation planning team. The role focuses on traffic and safety studies, simulations, and design of access plans for DOT and municipal projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program.
  • 4–8 years of experience with traffic-specific projects.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Licensed or ability to obtain a Professional Engineer (PE) license within 6 months of hire.
  • Working knowledge of the Highway Capacity Manual & Trip Generation Manual.
  • Proficiency in capacity analysis, traffic projections, and safety analysis (including HSM).
  • Experience with traffic simulation programs (VISSIM, CORSIM, Synchro, HCS).
  • Experience analyzing intersections, interchanges, and roundabouts.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Traffic Analysis Engineer – Houston, TX

Garver is seeking a highly motivated Traffic Analysis Engineer in our Houston, TX office to add to our growing traffic and transportation planning team. The ideal candidate would have 5‑10 years of related experience, a sharp technical background, and strong passion for the profession.

The position will offer the candidate an opportunity to play a key role in analyzing and designing exciting projects for our DOT and municipal clients across our client footprint. Applicants must have excellent communication skills with a commitment to becoming a key member of this highly productive design team. This position will be supervised by a Senior Project Manager and offers outstanding growth opportunity and career advancement to the right individual.

Responsibilities
  • Perform traffic and safety studies.
  • Perform traffic simulation and level of service analysis.
  • Develop access management plans and lane configurations for new or modified alignments.
  • Develop traffic signal timing plans.
  • Prepare summary documentation and reports.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and communicate concepts to clients.
Additional duties
  • Assist with project management to identify project scopes, fees, and monitor project progress.
  • Maintain a client‑focused, service attitude by tracking budgets and keeping projects on schedule.
  • Prepare project proposals and give interviews for project pursuits.
  • Perform direct client marketing and develop relationships with existing clients within our service area.
  • Mentor less experienced staff.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from an ABET accredited engineering program.
  • 4‑8 years of experience with traffic‑specific projects.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Licensed or ability to obtain a Professional Engineer (PE) license within 6 months of hire.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in civil engineering.
  • Experience in transportation planning and travel demand modeling (TransCAD).
  • Experience using ArcGIS for data analysis and reviewing large sets of crash data for trends and clusters.
  • Experience with pedestrian and bicycle improvement projects and studies.
  • Experience in marketing and managing local government projects.
  • Experience working with MODOT and municipalities in Missouri.
  • Certification as a PTOE and/or RSP.
