Job summary

Garver LLC in Houston, Texas is seeking a Traffic Analysis Engineer with 5–10 years of experience to join our growing traffic and transportation planning team. The role provides growth opportunities under the supervision of a Senior Project Manager, with exposure to multiple clients and project types.

The candidate will perform traffic and safety studies, conduct simulations, develop access plans, and create signal timing strategies while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and clients.

Qualifications

  • ABET accredited engineering degree or equivalent required.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
  • Experience with traffic-related projects and capacity/safety analysis.
  • Proficiency with traffic simulation software (VISSIM/CORSIM) and mapping tools.

Traffic Analysis Engineer – Houston, Texas

Garver is seeking a highly‑motivated Traffic Analysis Engineer to add to our growing traffic and transportation planning team in Houston, TX. The ideal candidate will have 5‑10 years of related experience, a strong technical background, and passion for the profession. This role will be supervised by a Senior Project Manager and offers outstanding growth opportunity and career advancement.

Responsibilities
  • Perform traffic and safety studies
  • Conduct traffic simulation and level of service analysis
  • Develop access management plans and lane configurations for new or modified alignments
  • Create traffic signal timing plans
  • Prepare summary documentation and reports
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and communicate concepts to clients
Additional Duties
  • Assist with project management to identify scopes, fees, and monitor progress
  • Track budgets and keep projects on schedule, maintaining a client‑focused, service attitude
  • Prepare project proposals and participate in project pursuits
  • Engage in direct client marketing and develop relationships within service area
  • Mentor less experienced staff
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree from an ABET accredited engineering program
  • 4‑8 years of experience with traffic‑specific projects
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
  • Working knowledge of the Highway Capacity Manual and Trip Generation Manual
  • Experience in capacity analysis, traffic projections, and safety analysis (including HSM)
  • Proficiency in traffic simulation programs (VISSIM, CORSIM, etc.), Synchro, and HCS
  • Experience analyzing intersections, interchanges, and roundabouts
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in civil engineering
  • Experience in transportation planning and travel demand modeling (TransCAD)
  • Experience using ArcGIS for data analysis, including review of large crash data sets for trend and cluster analysis
  • Experience with pedestrian and bicycle improvement projects and studies
  • Experience with marketing and managing local government projects
  • Experience working with MODOT and municipalities in Missouri
  • Certification as a PTOE and/or RSP
