Energy Management Director - Build Trading Operations for Utility-Scale Storage Leader

A well-capitalized energy storage company backed by institutional infrastructure capital is hiring a Director of Energy Management to architect and lead their Qualified Scheduling Entity (QSE) trading desk operations. This is a front-office role with direct P&L impact, managing 1,995MWh of operating battery assets across multiple ISOs.

The incoming Director will build trading infrastructure from the ground up. The company operates utility-scale storage projects with a 11,000 MW development pipeline and is establishing scalable market operations to maximize asset returns. This is not a support or coordination role. You'll own market strategy implementation, regulatory compliance, and trading desk operations with direct executive visibility.

What We're Looking For

• 2+ years in ERCOT power market operations including control room operations, power trading, generation scheduling, or asset management. Direct BESS experience preferred.
• Degree in finance, economics, math, electrical engineering, or related field
• Working knowledge of multiple ISOs (ERCOT required; CAISO, PJM, MISO, NYISO, ISONE preferred)
• Proven ability to navigate complex market rules, manage vendor relationships, and ensure regulatory compliance across evolving market structures
• Strong communication skills for high-stress environments and cross-functional collaboration with trading, regulatory, and technical team

Nice to Have

• Experience with Real-Time Co-Optimization implementation
• Background in MMS systems, SCADA operations, or asset commissioning
• QSE desk operations or ISO client relationship management
• Risk management and performance optimization experience
