About the Company:

My client is a leading North American operator of utility-scale renewable energy assets, managing more than 3,000 MW, including solar, wind, battery storage, and renewable natural gas. With assets across NYISO, MISO, PJM, ERCOT, and CAISO, and a growing 1,200 MW development pipeline, the company plays a critical role in grid reliability and decarbonization.

About the Role:

My client is seeking 2 experienced traders focused on PJM and MISO or ERCOT markets. This role will prioritize medium- to long-term trading strategies, with a strong emphasis on turn-based trading (not cash or real-time). The ideal candidate brings deep market knowledge, a proven ability to hedge physical assets, and strong analytical and risk management skills.

You will manage trading and hedging strategies for a portfolio of renewable assets—primarily wind and solar—accounting for intermittency, congestion, and DART spreads. You will also collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including operations, finance, legal, and asset management.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and execute medium- to long-term trading strategies in PJM, MISO, and ERCOT.
• Actively manage volumetric, congestion, and DART exposures using market instruments such as outright power, FTRs/PTPs, virtuals, and options.
• Provide physical and financial hedging solutions, tailored to the unique characteristics of renewables and storage assets.
• Analyze and recommend participation strategies in capacity auctions, particularly in PJM, ERCOT and MISO.
• Leverage a variety of inputs—weather data, ISO market data, PPA terms, etc.—to inform trading decisions.
• Build and improve trading tools, dashboards, and models (e.g., stack models, bid strategy engines).
• Track regulatory updates and market fundamentals, translating them into actionable trading insights.
• Present strategies and outcomes to internal stakeholders and executive leadership.
• Collaborate across internal trading desks to ensure a consistent and informed view of the markets.

Qualifications:

• Extensive knowledge of PJM, ERCOT and MISO markets.
• Demonstrated success trading in day-ahead and forward markets; real-time trading experience is not required.
• Proven track record with hedging physical assets, not just financial speculation.
• Strong quantitative analysis skills and market modeling capabilities.
• Familiarity with tools like Excel, Python, and SQL for data analysis and trading tool development.
• Experience optimizing renewable or storage assets is strongly preferred.
• Passion for energy markets and a keen understanding of regulatory impacts and market structures.
