Job description

A highly analytical and collaborative energy trading firm is seeking a Power Analyst to join its growing team in Cambridge, MA. This is an opportunity to work directly on electricity market forecasting, congestion analysis, and power systems modeling within a research-driven trading environment. The team operates with a strong culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning. Analysts work closely with experienced traders and quantitative professionals while developing independent research and market insights across U.S. power markets.

About the Role

This role is fully onsite in Cambridge, MA to support close collaboration and continuous knowledge sharing across the team.

Responsibilities
  • Support trading and commercial decision-making across U.S. electricity markets
  • Analyze congestion, transmission constraints, and locational marginal pricing (LMP)
  • Build, maintain, and improve production cost and power flow models
  • Forecast market pricing and grid behavior in systems with increasing renewables, storage, and electrification
  • Research market fundamentals including supply, demand, generation dispatch, and transmission expansion
  • Apply quantitative, statistical, and machine learning methods to identify trading opportunities
  • Develop deep expertise in markets such as ERCOT, SPP, CAISO, and NYISO
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree with 2+ years of relevant experience OR an advanced degree in:
    • Electrical Engineering
    • Operations Research
Required Skills
  • Strong programming skills in Python, SQL, and/or R
  • Experience with production cost modeling or OPF tools such as:
    • PowerWorld
    • GE MAPS
    • DAYZERP
    • ROMOD
    • Aurora
    • GridView
  • Strong understanding of electricity markets, grid operations, congestion, and price formation
