Job summary

The University of Georgia in Athens is seeking a Trade Shop Apprentice for University Housing, Facilities-Maintenance. The role supports repair and improvement work and provides hands-on experience across skilled trades within a 9,000-resident community.

Under supervision, you will work with HVAC, electrical, masonry and painting trades, develop practical skills, and participate in on-call operations. On-site, full-time hours with occasional evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Two years of experience in trades or vocational training preferred.
• Must be able to earn EPA 608 Certification within 1 year of starting.

Responsibilities

• Support maintenance, repair, and improvement of University Housing facilities.
• Work with HVAC/Refrigeration Mechanics, Electricians, Masons, Painters and other trades staff to gain skills.
• Provide high level customer service to residents, peers and staff.
• Be available for on-call, weekends and holidays as needed.
• Participate in safety and preventive maintenance tasks and documentation.
