Job summary

Axiom is seeking an experienced Trade Compliance Attorney in the United States (Seattle area) to advise technology, software, cloud, or SaaS clients on complex import/export compliance matters. You will navigate EAR, ECCN/HTS classifications, and cross-border transfers, partnering with product and engineering teams to embed compliant practices within a SaaS environment.

The role requires a JD, with hands-on export/import experience and strong communication skills to translate regulatory

Qualifications

• JD degree and bar admission in an applicable jurisdiction.
• Experience advising technology, software, cloud or SaaS firms on international trade compliance.
• Hands-on import and export matters experience.
• Strong product/software/technology classification knowledge (ECCN/HTS).
• Solid understanding of EAR, export licensing and related regs.
• Experience advising on cross-border technology transfers.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Advise on US and international import/export compliance, EAR and related regs.
• Conduct export classifications (ECCN) for software, tech, hardware, and related products.
• Support import and customs classification (HTS) and related requirements.
• Assess licensing requirements, licenses, end-use restrictions, and controls.
• Provide guidance on cross-border transfer of software, data, cloud services, and tech.
• Draft and update trade compliance policies and contractual provisions.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, compliance, and biz teams to operationalize trade rules.
